Sometimes technological progress goes hand in hand with emotional regression, and the ability to create surpasses the ability to understand consequences.
The world may appear increasingly advanced while the human being retreats inward — toward fear, and indifference. In such a state, progress becomes mere movement, not direction. And a species capable of reshaping the planet begins to lose the capacity to care for life upon it.
